“Leadership and partnership on road safety” Roundtable Discussion

On 14th May at 10:00-13:00 National Automobile Club of Azerbaijan organized a roundtable discussion on “Leadership and partnership on road safety” dedicated to “UN Global Road Safety Week” in ADA University.

In the roundtable discussions the representatives of Ministry of Education, State Road Police, Baku Transport Agency, State Committee on Family, Women and Child Problems, UN, WHO, Red Crescent Society and local NGOs participated.

In the event discussions on joint activity and role of Mass Media, governmental and non-governmental organizations in awareness of the society were held in according to the goals of “State Program of Azerbaijan Republic on Road Safety for 2019-2023” signed by the president of the republic on 27th December 2018.

As a speakers Vusal Rajabli from AMAK, Mubariz Aghayev from SRP, Mais Aghayev from BTA, expert on road safety, Arshad Huseynov, Fanara Bunyadzade from WHO, Sabina Mahbubi-Iran from Red Crescent Society talked about the way of partnership for effective implementation of state program on road safety, current situation on road safety in an international and local level, delivering of information on problems and achievements in this field to the society, strengthening partnership between governmental bodies and civil society in the field of road safety. The speakers also highlighted the importance of improving education program for strengthening monitoring methods on Road Safety and formation of road safety culture among society. Supporting awareness mission of AMAK, participants expressed their positive attitude towards thoughts on the importance of family, kindergartens and schools for formation of road safety culture.

At the end of the roundtable, discussion participants stressed effective activity of mass media in awareness and directing the main focus to education in the implementation of the State Program. At the same time they stressed that for effective work partnership and joint effort of NGO, media, governmental bodies and international organization will result efficiently and in this direction AMAK, Ministry of Education, State Road Police, BTA, WHO, The State Committee on Family, Women and Child Problems, Red Crescent Society are open for partnership.
